  5. Comparison: RadarBox FlightStick/Antenna vs FlightAware Pro Stick...

    discussions.flightaware.com/t/comparison-radarbox-flightstick-antenna-vs...

The FlightAware antenna is a passive antenna, looks pretty similar at the same dimensions with the RB antenna. The antenna uses the type N connector, which renders the cable user-replacable. The cable I used is a 5D-FB cable with 3m length, which shows under a dB of attenuation for 1090MHz according to the specifications.

  6. Flight Aware versus Flight Radar information detail

    discussions.flightaware.com/t/flight-aware-versus-flight-radar-information...

The explanation I received from FlightAware tech support was that the military often reuses call signs. Yet, FlightRadar is able to display information about the actual flight in progress; it is able to ‘figure out’ that there is an actual aircraft in flight, and presents the data for that flight and that aircraft.

  8. What do the different colours of a flight path mean?

    discussions.flightaware.com/t/what-do-the-different-colours-of-a-flight-path...

Many thanks, Simon. The color is giving an indication of the altitude of the aircraft. Check the bottom of the map. Also if you see a grey (dotted) line of the aircraft it is an indication that the aircraft is out of coverage of the ADSB recievers and the system is then plotting the expected trajectory for that flight. Thank you very much Tom.

  9. Why is FlightAware not in real-time or actually live?

    discussions.flightaware.com/t/why-is-flightaware-not-in-real-time-or-actually...

I know that a couple years ago, FlightAware got rid of the 5-minute delay on the map and it’s delayed by most 30 seconds, but it seems this is still not the case. Compared to FlightRadar24, their position looks like it’s more in real-time and live than FlightAware. They do movement prediction, which can be inaccurate.

No planes being received. FlightAwareADS-B Flight Tracking. andyjcallaghan July 24, 2024, 7:36pm 1. I built a PiAware a few weeks back. It was a Raspberry Pi 3 using a FlightAware Pro Stick Plus, connected to an external antenna up on the roof. All was working well. Was receiving about 100 planes at a time, and about 2000-2500 planes per day.

  11. Guide to install PiAware on Raspberry Pi 4 - FlightAware...

As a newbie I had some trouble sorting this, so I am setting out the steps that FlightAware and others on this forum showed me. Basically the PiAware SD image will not work on the Pi 4, as it needs updating. However, PiAware can be installed successfully using the command line in Raspbian Buster. You need to type the following lines. Each needs to be loaded with the Enter key: sudo apt update ...
