The Seaport Village Carousel, also known as the Fair Park Looff Carousel, is a historic wooden carousel in the western wing of Seaport Village of San Diego, California. It was built by noted carver Charles I. D. Looff, who also constructed the Santa Monica Pier, in 1895. The carousel costs a small fee to ride and contains 54 animals and 2 chariots.
Seaport Village is a waterfront shopping and dining complex adjacent to San Diego Bay in downtown San Diego, California. The complex houses more than 70 shops, galleries, and eateries on 90,000 square feet (8,000 m 2 ) of waterfront property.

After likely operating in an amusement park in the eastern United States, the carousel moved to Seaport Village in San Diego, in 1977; then it was restored in 1997; then it began operating in Chase Palm Park in Santa Barbara, California, in 1999. [2] The carousel listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. [1]

Looff Carousel. Looff Carousels are carousels built by Charles I. D. Looff (1852–1918) a master carver and builder of hand-carved carousels and amusement rides in America. Looff, whose factory was based in Riverside, Rhode Island, is credited with making about forty carousels between 1876 and 1916, only about ten of which survive.
