Before clicking the ever-enticing submit button, always read the fine print. It clearly states it before you submit the application (same as if you were to apply elsewhere). You may want to start your own thread asking other's for assistance. If it were me, I would just call Marathon and ask the status of your application. I applied for the Marathon Credit Card and got the 7-10 day message. Today, I got an email saying welcome to Marathon Credit Card. So, - 4726311.
Re: Marathon Visa Preapproval. Marathon Visa was my second pre approved mailing I got (FNBO was first surprisingly). I replied and waited, it was approved so as others have said unless a negative hits your CR you should be okay. For starting or rebuilding it a nice card, but there are better rewards cards available.

I was kind of under the impression you would receive a flat out denial if you already had a regular Marathon gas card. Hummm.
Re: US Bank Altitude Reserve approved - 15k. Congrats @CreditCuriosity on your USBAR approval. The starting limit is very good, especially considering you already have $35.5k in limits with US Bank. I find the card to be valuable enough to easily offset the $75 effective annual fee.

Amazon's "further review". I was making a big purchase and, for the first time, have decided to take them (Amazon) upon the instant discount offer, the savings would be, I assumed, worthy. Alas, despite: -- 22 long years of being Amazon's customer. -- two new credit cards, 5 months ago each. They did not approve me.
Re: Macys application status. I believe the Macy's credit card is issued by American Express. That means you must wait at least 30 days from the date on the letter before applying again. The credit pull happens automatically as soon as you submit the application. A human is going to review your application (hence the wait for review) but the credit pull is an automatic thing and happens instantly. There's no way to cancel the application once it is submitted. It has to finish the process whether approved or denied.
