It’s a long and expensive process but fedex is making improvements. From a drivers perspective, they gotta move fast. They don’t have time to stop and chat, if you want your shipping costs to be affordable then get used to not seeing your driver. One of purposes of this sub is to help customers out and answer questions.
Finally Happened. My package tracking showed the package arrived at the nearest Fed ex facility early on the 20th. Showed it "out for delivery" since later that afternoon all the way through until this morning, the 26th. Checked tracking at lunch time and it said that it was delivered-on April 20th. Um, nope.
At fedex express, The Leo (tablet) has gps. Dispatch can see in real time where drivers are, managers can call dispatch whenever they wish to get updates—locations, how many stops a driver has left, etc. if your package has a senseaware then it tracks the package in real time also. There are also cameras on each truck.
My package was stuck in the same location for 18 days before it suddenly moved and was delivered all at once. It is unfortunately better than my USPS package, which has been stuck in the same location for 24 days and counting. Absolutely - anytime FedEx has your package you should be worried.
here's the short version of it -- in case you don't want to read it: shipper -> fedex ground -> cross country to smartpost center -> consolidated into a bin with every other smartpost shipment for your zip code's area (the first 3 digits of your zip) might be a few days -> sends to usps via ground -> takes a day or two to get to the USPS -> sits in the back of hte USPS for a day or two ...
Lmao this mf really asking why we want GPS tracking. You makes sense for fedex ground... but I'm overnighting a package. Grubhub, Instacart, Uber Eats, Lyft, Walmart, Amazon Prime and UPS all have this feature, yet the Express focused Fedex Express doesn't. All those are gig workers except for Prime and UPS.
FedEx's delivery estimates are usually a joke. Frequently it will say estimated delivery is one day, then it will update to a different date later (usually sooner than expected), and then update to say the day after that like nothing happened. On the package tracking page there are two tabs, “Travel History” and “Shipment Facts”. Click on Shipment Facts and you’ll see either ground or express listed under Service. I'm in Canada. Here's the rub. FedEx didn't fail you. You might think FedEx failed you but they didn't. With FedEx Ground/HD no packages are picked up transported or delivered by FedEx Ground employees. The only FedEx employees that MIGHT deliver a ground package is an Express employee that's being contracted out to Ground by Express. But the brand!!!! Yep ...
