The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, originally The Olympic Hotel, is a luxury hotel in downtown Seattle, Washington. A historic landmark, the hotel was built on the original site of the University of Washington's first campus. [2] The hotel opened in 1924, and in 1979, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. [3]
The building of the Camlin Hotel was sponsored by Adolph Linden and Edmund W. Campbell, the President and Vice-President/Secretary of the Puget Sound Savings & Loan. However, in May, 1926, the month of the hotel's opening, a bank employee had noticed some questionable withdrawals, and had brought them to the attention of the bank's board.
The hotel was renamed the Mayflower Park Hotel in 1974, after it was bought for $1.1 million by a limited partnership that gave control to Marie and Birney Dempcy. The hotel had been in foreclosure and was in need of repairs, necessitating an extensive renovation. [5] [7] The hotel currently has 160 rooms, [1] and six meeting and banquet rooms. [8]

It remained Seattle's tallest building for ten years after it was built.
