As a Blue Apron subscriber this is what I've found. Granted I live in nyc, with a high cost of living, but it's really not pricier than finding these ingredients myself. The quantities make a difference, never left with extra of something I may not know what to cook with and the convenience factor is hard to put a price tag on.
I use my iPad and am able to choose “mark up” on the regular page with the recipe. Safari will then make the page I’m on into a pdf and I’m able to download that pdf. I love Blue Apron, and sometimes I like to make the recipes without the recipe card after purchasing ingredients at the store by printing the pdf version of the recipe card. Blue Apron used to provide an area on their website for each recipe where you could click "Download PDF". This appears to have gone away especially on newer recipes.
Three years later, I'm thrilled. After raising teenagers, my cooking skills stopped at Hamburger Helper ... "culinary adventure" is the only curse word that still resonates in the adolescent mind. Blue Apron has taught me tools, techniques, ingredients, combinations, and presentations I would never have learned on my own.

Last weeks blue apron meals. Pan seared steaks with green beans and cheesy scallion potato cakes. Romesco pork and Spanish rice with zucchini and garlic mayo. Bad picture of the creamy tomato fettuccine with mushrooms and thyme breadcrumbs. Orange and brown butter tilapia with collard greens.
Alternative_Basis611. ADMIN MOD. Judged for using Blue Apron. Does anyone else feel judged for using Meal Kits? I’ve been cooking Blue Apron’s for nearly 2 years now and I love them. Great portions, diverse cuisine. But, when I tell people I use them they make me feel less than. As if cooking from a meal kit doesn’t make you a real cook.
For me was the time it takes to make food. HF was like 0.5-1 hour, BA was 1 hour plus. With young kids around, nobody wants to get off work, skip kid hangout, and cook for 1.5 hours. Ah, regardless, both Hello Fresh and Blue Apron provided at least 6 oz per serving, which is more than adequate.
