  2. Glass-bedding a Garand? - The Firing Line Forums

    thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=204842

I would leave a '41 Garand alone myself. Guys that work on Garands and other historical rifles of this era are picky about using the "proper stain" on the stocks! I think some of the better books on Garands will cover the serial#/history on your rifle. Try Shotgun news or MidwayUSA shooting supplies for books or CDs on this.

I am located in Lake Charles, Louisiana and I am looking at getting into reloading. I was wondering what the best place to buy supplies would be between Lafayette, Louisiana and Beaumont, Texas would be. I know I can order them online but by the time you pay shipping and haz-mat, it really eats into your savings. Thanks, Scott

All personal feelings about Walmart aside, for $20.00 you can have a pretty decent "basic" shotgun cleaning kit. They sell a 3 Piece kit , with mops and patches is $8.00. Extra Mops are $5.00. A bottle of Hoppes 9 is about $5.00. All are sold under the Hoppes label.

  7. A Lady Smith for the Lady: S&W M60LS - The Firing Line Forums

    thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179594

Wife has previously enjoyed shooting a Ruger Security Six 4" and it's available in the home for SD, but doesn't do as well as the Lady Smith for CCW. The J-frame revolver will get plenty of use, even if the misses only CCW's with it occasionally. Suggestions on ammo choices are welcome. See also my 2nd post.

  9. Buckmark failure to feed...looking for suggestions - The Firing...

Make sure the magazine is ALL THE WAY IN. The base of the magazine is supposed to be flush with the frame. If that isn't the issue, then you have my apologies. I also went to the range a few times without cleaning my Buckmark and the feed ramp got a little crudded up. Get a Q-Tip and some Hoppes to clean the feed ramp.

Now the cost on these bushings to a company such as Widener’s is less than the advertised price of $7.99. Isn’t it really worth the minor cost to send the bushings out or even possibly offer the consumer a discount on a future purchase in order to show they are a reputable company that will stand behind they mistakes.

Watch out for the overall lengths in the Loadmap. For example: I am loading for an HK Mark 23 with Hornady XTP 230 gr bullets. Loadmap instructs loading the 230 gr XTP bullet to an overall length of 1.275". The problem is the max OL for an HK Mark 23 (the barrel is made to SAMMI specs) with this. bullet is about 1.230".
