May 2023. I have owned the Sims 4 with the Deluxe version since 2017. I bought it through origin and now only run it through the EA desktop app. However, as of a few days ago after the latest Sims 4 update, the game left my collection. Whenever I tried to open it from the app or from my desktop, the "you don't have access" page has popped up.

When you see the file, highlight it and click "Open file location," which will take you to the Bin folder. I don't work for EA. I'm just trying to help fellow players with their games. @bunnies270 Please check both Program Files and Program Files (x86) for a folder named EA Desktop App or something similar.
So I was trying to launch my game from the EA app as normal, but then I got a message saying that one of the game's files was corrupted, and that it needs to repair itself. So I tried to let it do that, but it wasn't working. It would seem like it was repairing for a little bit, but then it would go crazy saying it was 90% done then 35% and so on.
@_Manou1996_ The Sims 4 user folder, the one that contains the Mods folder, is always in Documents > Electronic Arts no matter where you've installed the game's program files. If, however, you've used a symbolic link to move the user folder to the external drive, then that's where you need to look.
Hero. @Mack232323 Moving the Electronic Arts folder shouldn't be a problem. The game will create a new one, with a new Sims 4 folder inside, if it's able to launch at all. Try running the takeown command on your Documents folder. First, run a Windows search for "Command Prompt," open it, and enter this command:
Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall. Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan. Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete. Close Revo, and restart your computer.
For the EA App itself, try setting an exception for EADesktop.exe in your antivirus, if you have one, and add TS4_x64.exe while you're at it. If you only use Windows Defender, check whether Controlled Folder Access is enabled, and set those same exceptions if it is. (Don't enable it if it's not already running.)
Hero. @AgentButterfly25 Try moving the entire Mods folder to the desktop and allowing the game to create a new one. If that doesn't help, download a fresh copy of one mod or cc item confirmed compatible with patch 1.96 and add it to the new Mods folder, but nothing else, and test. If that doesn't help either, let me know what antivirus you use.
