    Closing out a card can drop your credit score slightly because it can impact your credit utilization ratio. If you just have one card , you should open more. Visa and MasterCards are different than store credit cards. Open it, pay it off before interest rates kick in and just keep it open. It's better for your credit.

    Approved for Fidelity credit card. Good afternoon everyone, wanted to hop on a give an update. I finally decided to pull the trigger today and apply for the 2% cash back card from fidelity.     But yes, you’re right, and like I stated in my previous comment, not using credit won’t affect your credit score at all, positively and negatively. Use a debit card only at an ATM. Use a credit card for purchases. I haven’t bought anything with a debit card in over a decade and don’t plan to start any time soon.
