    Currently in California. I am getting really confused with this whole Medi-cal and Covered CA thing. I got laid off in June and my coverage with Kaiser ended at the end of July. As soon as I got laid off, I went ahead and filed for unemployment via EDD. At the end of that application, it suggested that I apply for health coverage.

The Medi-Cal you qualify for is called MAGI (modified adjusted gross income) and it has no "property" (think liquid resources) in the eligibility determination.

I entered my net instead of gross income so I got booted off of Covered California. I called a covered California representative to help fix my application so that everything is correct.

    I'm in California. The story goes is I had medi-cal for 2019 because i was unemployed. In march 2019, i got hired for a 6-month contract job from 3/2019 - 9/2019. Fortunately, it got extended for an additional 3-months twice. This means my contract role was a full solid year from 3/2019 - 3/2020.

    nah medi-cal is the best insurance i’ve had in my life. been on lots of different private plans, hmo, ppo, etc got a full allergen panel, a sleep study, PT, and more. absolutely no hassle. no denied claims. no copay. nothing. just go to the doctor when you need to, get work done when you need it. waits were never as long as with private insurance

    If you are enrolled in Medi-Cal, you must report a change within 10 days. If you are enrolled in Covered California, you must report a change within 30 days. I agree and certify under penalty of perjury to report any changes to the information in this renewal application to Covered California or to my local county office.
