Claire Trevor (née Wemlinger; March 8, 1910 [1] – April 8, 2000) was an American actress. She appeared in 65 feature films from 1933 to 1982, [2] winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Key Largo (1948), and received nominations for her roles in The High and the Mighty (1954) and Dead End (1937).
Biography. Lewis was born in Los Angeles, California, on April 1, 1920. [1] His first film role was as a flagman in Dive Bomber (1941). He was immediately put under contract to Warner Bros., at which he made several films. He is perhaps best remembered for his role as Edward "Toots" Bass, one of Edward G. Robinson 's henchmen, in 1948's Key Largo.
