UAB Hospital (also known as University Hospital) is a 1,207 bed tertiary hospital and academic health science center located in Birmingham, Alabama.It serves as the only ACS verified Level I Trauma Center in Alabama, [2] and is the flagship property of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and the UAB Health System, a part of the University of Alabama System.
In January 2022 it became known that the Trust had submitted plans to Birmingham City Council to build a top-class training centre at Good Hope Hospital, which was needed due to the increased number of medical students. The 1.9m investment would provide support to existing and future staff as well as the local community.
After joining the National Health Service as Little Bromwich Hospital in 1948, it became a general hospital in 1953.
