I joined this forum in order to find out what happened to my favorite conservative talk show host, Rick Roberts. I hope that he will surface again with some form of dialog on topical subjects. I really liked his style, he was very respectful of his callers and never was dramatic.
It's obvious WBAP is a right-wing station but then again that's what sells advertising in this part of the country. While I DO like Rush, et al. I do think they should at least have something as a balance in the lineup. The WBAP commercial made from angry sound bites of Mark-Rush-Hannity-Levin-Ingram is inappropriate I think.
with Will Cain's show now added, i wonder when Rick Roberts end up getting picked up by KRLD if he's still in the Dallas Market waiting for a new radio home after WBAP fired him. also i wonder how long until Cumulus flips KLIF Or iHeart Flips KFXR to Newsradio doing nothing but all news all day with KLRD becoming "Newstalk" instead of Newsradio.
WBAP is 100% pro-Far Right in terms of political talk and the only thing that's trust worthy about the station is their top notch radio coverage of severe weather events, if they lost Brad Barton and stop doing EAS alerts with live people doing the alerts and instead relay the EAS alerts from NOAA Weather Radio, then they lose their remaining listeners who's political views is middle/center ...
Before there was a full-time position for Middays, Rick was the ONLY full-timer for KCountry 103. When there was a problem, Rick was there. When there was a station event, Rick was there. When something extra needed to be done for the station, Rick did it, because there was no one else. For many years Rick didn't have a staff...HE was KCountry 103.
Rick Roberts - A local talk show without all those nasty local talk subjects. He's the next best thing to another screaming white republican via a Sat. box. Excuse me while I resonate. Yawn.....
I use to live in Dallas and think both of you do a great job!!. Dan I loved it when you were doing news in the morning and Joe, I listened to you on the Midnight Trucking Show. I live in Northwest Arkansas and pick up both stations, WBAP and KRMG. Dan I wish you the best of luck. It would be cool if you did fill in at WBAP while you are in Texas.
The intent is to focus on the end of the WBAP/WFAA share time arrangement. Although other markets (New York and Chicago) also had stations that shared a frequency, as far as I know, D/FW was unique in that WBAP and WFAA shared time on two frequencies. Here are some questions as thought starters for anecdotes, facts and reminiscing: 1).
Let's say he starts one. Getting word out to the majority of his WBAP listeners would be a challenge unless he was willing to spend some big money on advertising. WBAP is certainly not gong to promote it for him. He might get a certain amount of free publicity in the local press for a day or so and perhaps though his Dallas Morning News column ...
