Acrylic, with its non vibrating property also make poor choice. However you can place rega on a maple block and isolate the block from the table, floor or rack. This is because the unwanted vibration gets absorbed by the maple block. Rega is a non suspended light weighted tt with a reason.
On Rega turntables over the years I’ve used a Dynavector 10x5 and 20x2, Goldring Eroica and 1042, Benz Micro L0.4. They all have sounded great to me. I used spacers for a while, went a few years with the Benz and Eroica with no spacer, and then recently came back to using 2mm.
Just be careful swapping out the cartridge with the connectors. The Rega is pretty fragile in that respect with those wires. Use a small needle nose plier to put them on/off (or tweezers). Dont pull on the wire by the wire, use the metal part at the end. Upinsmoke, Feb 6, 2017.
Fitted to the original Planar 2 and 3 turntables, the Rega R200 tonearm was again manufactured by Acos in Japan, but this time to Rega's specifications. The S-shaped arm tube and arm base where nickel plated steel, tracking force (VTF) applied by rotating the counterweight and bias adjusted by a toothed belt from a rotary control on an outrigger.
The Project X2 is intriguing to me. $1299 with a Sumiko Moonstone, versus the Rega P3 with an Elys for $1,145 or no cartridge for $945. Here is a good summation of the new X2 from TTL: Pro-Ject X1 / X2 / X-Series Turntable Review + Comparison Based on the Debut Esprit, but seemingly everything has been upgraded/improved.
The good news is that the P 10 has a higher tonearm than the P 6 and lower and can have a near level tonearm with cartridges between 17 and 18mm high without shims. The P 6 is set for a 14mm tall cartridge and it would be difficult to have a level tonearm with most non Rega carts. I would make sure the cartridge you select has a height within ...
SOTA is the best of these on build quality, speed accuracy, and overall customer service/support. And you won't be on the upgrade treadmill. In the long run, SOTA is a good solid investment. Pro-Ject (and Music Hall made by Pro-Ject) makes some very nice turntables and Rega does, but I'd put SOTA ahead of Rega and Pro-Ject overall. McLover, Aug ...
Location: U.K. Hello all fellow turntable & music lovers.. Here are my early thoughts & findings from my recent purchase of a after market Rega Planar metal subplatter. I choose Iceni Audio purely because I believed that a metal subplatter wouldn`t be the big upgrade user`s & manufactures were claiming & this was one of the cheapest I saw on ...
Through forum member jonathan_s I recently became aware that Rega turntables are known to play too fast. We noticed his Rega turntable was playing too fast while running a shoot out w/ his 1981 mono U.K. White Album vs T.F.'s mono White Album needle drop CD-R. Later on back home, I ran a speed test with the Rega Planer 3 that I own.
Rega Neo Speed Adjustment Tool Belt-using turntables are inherently at a disadvantage against their direct drive counterparts in regard to speed accuracy, though some manage to be perfectly rock stable. In my experience, it is somewhat on the rarer side.
