The S60 Platform (formerly Series 60 User Interface) was a software platform for smartphones that runs on top of the Symbian operating system. It was created by Nokia based on the 'Pearl' user interface from Symbian Ltd. [1] It was introduced at COMDEX in November 2001 and first shipped with the Nokia 7650 smartphone.
The first version in 2002 was lacking support for the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and Wireless Markup Language (WML) and Adobe Flash Lite. s60 version 2 introduced support for WAP and WML. [4] Hence the Nokia Services (WAP) browser was the default browser on initial device shipments of this platform.
