Comes by about once a day around 3pm, not a big deal at all. I'm assuming they don't want guys like this to have the schedule so they probably don't post it. I don't know if there is a schedule to be found. I moved to a place 2 blocks away from the freight tracks about a year ago and it is definitely loud.

Sydney Trains does not have a public timetable for freight paths on their network. Even if they did, it wouldn't be accurate as freight trains frequently run late for various reasons. Anytrip, or any other transport app, is your best choice as they'll show realtime positions of freight trains between North Strathfield and Point Clare. Reply.
I never heard the train in the middle of the night in that area. My grandparents built the house at 4920 elder Ave, the train tracks are right behind it along Craig Ave. I think in general trains try not to blow the horn and stuff going through neighborhoods in the middle of the night. Man, I wish that house was still in my family. 🥺
As others have said, most of the freight trains can be unpredictable. Often me spotting them is pure luck. The only trains you can reliably plan for are passenger trains (the Capitol Limited and the Pennsylvanian Amtrak trains run through Pittsburgh) and the T light rail system in the South Hills.
