    They are heavy, but even with shipping, it should be considerably cheaper than a Blue Thunder, and finding a used, Blue Thunder Y-block intake manifold is like searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack. Mummert has an aluminum Y-block intake manifold, but unlike the Blue Thunder, it does not have the crossover for a heat riser choke.

    If you've got to stick with the cam/head combo your using then you may need a dual plane intake for best all around performance under 6500RPM. The one intake many 385 series diehards use is the Weiand Stealth, its available in standard 429-460 intake port and 429 CJ intake port sizes and is under 250 bucks.

    from Spokane Valley, Washington. An interesting trivia tidbit is that Chevy used orange in 55 but switched to red in 56, then back to orange in 57... "chevy orange"stayed til switching to blue in the late 70s. Also Chevy supposedly used chartreuse on the 283 in the first part of the run in 1957 before switching back to orange.
