    Flatpak has a Google Chrome package, but that's just a wrapper. Chrome is designed to use the local keyring, either gnome or kde's. If using autologin, then the keyring is not unlocked at login and chrome will complain about it. The solution used to be setting it to not use the keyring. Not sure if that's changed in the last couple of years ...

Thunderbird's settings which include your various email account settings, which thunderbird uses, are in the hidden folder ~/.thunderbird in your home folder. Normally apt-get remove does not touch anything in your home folder, so that should stay intact as is.

    I checked out 'organize'. If it only works with extensions, that won't work for me. My rules use simple patterns for specific input files and I manually run the script. inotify launches a script to process a file when it shows up in a specific directory. When that processing finishes, the file is moved up 1 directory.

    I prefer managing Gnome Extensions via this tool, rather than via Firefox, which always seemed an odd arrangement. Extension Manager confirms that "New Mail Indicator" is incompatible with my Gnome v.42.2 & the Gnome Extensions website only offers NMI up to v.41 so that shifts the problem to that specific extension.....
