Nah there isn’t. The demand isn’t the same for diamond and pearl as it is for Heartgold and SoulSilver. Diamond pearl sell loose for less then half that price everywhere else that isn’t GameStop. And almost everywhere sells Heartgold and SoulSilver for more then what GameStop sells it for.

The game was much cheaper at launch, and GameStop usually sells games for a little higher than you should buy it for. Look around elsewhere, you should be able to find a game for about $40 of you reaaally want platinum. Yeah, it is steep but those Pokemon DS games sell for a pretty penny. Black 2 & White 2 did massively improve this though by including the Pokemon World Tournament which pits you against familiar trainers of past games. Platinum has the Battle Frontier which is plenty of fun and will keep you going for hours if you're still craving battles. In my opinion if you've got the money then buy both games.
Gamestop has a copy on market (pre owned, apparently) that is $88.99. You can hope he doesnt know that and try to go a bit lower, or you can start there. But that could be a reference point. Ebay has a copy apparently without the case for $14, though, so it seems to vary a bit. 2.
3DS might change in the long run because all Pokemon games from all regions now have the same content (IE no longer have regionlised languages, all copies now contain all languages), so there may be a bigger market for Japanese copies later down the road as language no longer hinders gameplay.
