Beyond those issues, I also noticed that Skechers golf shoes are at least a 1/2 size smaller than other brands. I normally wear a size 9 1/2, but was trying on some other skechers golf shoes in the store the other day, and found myself going up to size 10, and even size 10 1/2 to find a comfortable fit.

I don't, but was just looking at Sketchers options at a local pro shop. These look pretty darn nice and competitively priced - these at $59. G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver. G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w. G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w. ZX5 Irons 4-AW.
You might want to check out Sqairz golf shoes. I haven't tried them (yet), but their claim to fame is a patented square toe box design and overall wide base for better ground contact and stability. I don't want to sound negative, but those are the ugliest shoes ever made. Driver: TSI3 - 10*, Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 Stiff.

As a matter of fact my first pair are seeing limited service as yard mowing shoes, my second set have been down graded to work shoes if I have to be out in the rain. This Testers Wanted opportunity from SQAIRZ golf shoes includes their new VELO golf shoe, the first-ever speed-rated golf shoe. This shoe is packed with technology and some pretty bold claims. In SQAIRZ testing, they found golfers using the VELO averaged an increase of 2.9 MPH in swing speed and tighter dispersion.
The short answer is: "Yes, shoes can definitely impact your score - especially if you play frequently, walk the majority of your rounds, and play in various conditions (i.e., hot, cold, dry, wet, and so on)." The long answer: I noticed most folks on here rotate shoes, and that's great practice relative to other sports.
Negatives. There aren't many negatives on these shoes. The spikes make marks on the green when they are soft after rain, which is unfortunately exactly when you need the extra grip these offer. It means you have to be a little careful with where you are walking, particularly with other players lines.
Not necessarily golf specific shoes either. I might consider and athletic or perhaps a running shoe of some flavor soon. Not sure if a running shoe is viable as the soles seem to be fairly smooth. I rarely play on a wet course but slippage is a concern without having some type of gripping sole.

My left foot is right at 13.75, and my right is slightly less than 13.5 (so call it 13.375), and both feet have very narrow heels and slightly wider than normal forefoot areas.
