I had plantation shutters on the sliders in a past home. They were the shoji-type where each panel was on an overhead track. Beautiful with the louvres open or closed, but when you need egress, the louvres must be closed and panels stacked to one side. The patio door frame was enclosed in a shadowbox casing to finish the look.

I'm currently "up north" , and while I'm cleaning out my attic for my TV move, I'd just like to get some recommended rules of thumb from you for what CAN be stored in the attic. My attic never gets boiling hot in the summer, but that's not going to be the case in Florida.

If you use Ikea cabs they mount on a metal rail. (attached to the wall with the afore-mentioned correct screws) The load is then spread across the width of the span instead of a point load at the screw location. If you will load the cabs with really heavy stuff and boxes on the top etc. the placing of a support below as mentioned is a great idea.

Tile can be considered....if you like to think out of the box, there is also plastic garage tile that hooks together and is grated, etc, for water to go through, and Ikea even sells locking together plastic and Teak wood slatted tiles that lay over the floor. Easy installation, looks great, can be removed and is wall to wall....great look.
