The Canberra line, an 8 km (5.0 mi) branch line from Queanbeyan to Canberra, was opened in 1914. A daytime bus service also operates between Moss Vale and Goulburn. Some stations are also served by NSW TrainLink XPT and Xplorer services from Sydney to Canberra, Griffith and Melbourne. Up until the mid-1990s, most services on the line operated through to Sydney Central.
In March 1992, the Sydney to Snowy Mountains service was sold to Australian Coachlines and the Cooma based school runs to Snowliner Coaches with Queanbeyan - Canberra Bus Service rebranded as Deane's Buslines. Deane was the son of Ron Deane who operated Clipper Tours, Deanes Coaches and South Trans in Sydney.
