I am using an Asus H31 Gamer mobo. But the mic in question is a plug in usb device so I don't know if the sound card is involved in any way. I will keep trying to find a solution but in the meantime will just have to speak one inch from the mic so others can hear. Apart from the low volume, its quite a clear mic. Kind regards Chris
