I wanted to install uTorrent so we can watch movies at our game night - something strange happened. At first it downloaded normally, but after it finished installing a notification from Windows Security said that what i installed was a virus. I got scared so i downloaded uTorrent from another provider. Same thing.
There are a lot of "modified" versions of Utorrent 2.2.1 with malware attached to them. Utorrent no longer distributes version 2.2.1 - so anybody downloading that version is getting a copy from some unreliable, unauthorized source who is most likely baiting you with downloading their "special edition" which has malware attached to it.

Posted November 6, 2017. Looking at the URL on the screenshot, you're downloading the current stable. What you need to do is go into the Windows Defender Antivirus settings. Somewhere in there you should be able to create an exception, possibly on some sort of white list, for uTorrent.exe. Once done, uTorrent should download just fine.
