I wish my 308 looked that good as I walked many miles still hunting with it over the years since I bought it back in the late 60's so it has some, really a lot, battle scars on it.

The Winchester model 100, mine is in .308 had a propensity to be a little off if the barrel was not properly broken in. Meaning some idiot gets home from the store with his new rifle and shoots two boxes of bullets through it in thirty minutes. Its the metal or the grooving in many rifles that you can ruin a new barrel by doing this.

The only foreign Winchester's were the reproductions of the model 1885 Single Shot, model 1886 lever action and the model 1892 lever action. All other Winchester's were made at the New Haven, Conn. plant until it's closing. ANY story that is told about model 100's, model 70's or model 94's being made in Japan is a MYTH.

This reminds me that I need to get the firing pin replaced in the 284 Model 100 that I got from my cousins estate. There was a recall years ago and this one never had the pin replaced. If you have a model 100, Winchester has on record if the one you have has had the pin replaced.

Most common, reasonably reliable and affordable .308 is a Remington 760 or 742, but I would prefer a .30-'06 to .308 unless you are restricted to milsurp ammo.

Their intention was to duplicate .270 Winchester ballistics in a cartridge short enough to function through Winchester's short action Model 88 lever and Model 100 semi-automatic rifles. As I write this only the current Winchester load drives a 150 grain Power Point bullet at a MV of 2860 fps and ME of 2724 ft. lbs. from a 24" test barrel.

Winchester Model 67 for $100 and decided that instead of butchering it for a project, I would restore it. First off I dismantled it completely, checked every little bit for wear, and finding every thing all good, proceeded to degrease and clean all the bits. I then put fresh Remoil on them, and put them in labeled ziplock bags.

  11. Winchester 1200 vs 1300 barrell - Survivalist Forum

I have a Winchester 1200 with 18.5 inch cut off barrell, the barrell is marked 2 3/4. What I am reading is like this: "Barrels for the 1300 will fit most 1200 models. They are not intended for use on Model 1200 Shotguns that were originally chambered for 2-3/4" shells only. Also fits most Ranger 120 models.
