Changing back to the entire email address and reentering my password allowed Tbird to login and try to down load messages. Frontier setting are what I have now and I would have thought that the Frontier tech would have spotted an obvious mistake. Greg

I changed my broadband ISP from Comcast to Frontier. With Frontier, of course, I get an email account. I can access and use the account just fine via webmail. However, when I manually configure in Thunderbird (autoconfigure produces the wrong settings), password authentication fails, When I try Advanced Configuration, SMTP works, but POP3 fails.
I am puzzled. There is no "Thunderbird server". Thunderbird is an email client that connects you to servers operated by email providers. Mozilla/Thunderbird is not an email provider. You appear to think you have another account, apart from the yahoo/frontier one. I doubt that reloading Thunderbird will help you.
