    In a word, yes. There is a time for intensive reading, and it doesn't have to be all the time. Perfectionism is your enemy when you are trying to break out of the low intermediate phase. Read and read widely. Listen and listen daily. Have a look at my post on making parallel texts. These can help bridge the gap.
