How to open eps file? I simply want to open and edit it Ive tried GIMP, Gtavit, and inkscape. I remember a trick I read but I didn't try it. You rename the extension of the file from eps to PDF. And inkscape import it as a PDF file. Try it and tell us if it work. Are you on Linux?

You can still open up a eps file in illustrator or other vector editor and manipulate it same as you would an ai file. Some printers who use older equipment or vinyl plotter/cutters prefer eps to ai or pdf.
Hello, I am trying to visualize “.eps” and “.ps” files on macOS Sonoma, however, I cannot figure out how to do it. I have already tried Evince, gv and Gimp, but all crash. Also File Viewer and ToyViewer. Inkscape is able to open eps vector files, but prior rasterize… Any help would be very appreciated.
Eps is obsolete. I haven’t saved an EPS file in over a decade. EPS stands for Encapsulated PostScriot. Drawing programs like Illustrator and Freehand used proprietary formats for their graphics. A FreeHand file can only be read by FreeHand. An Illustrator file, while technically a PostScript file, was intended only to be read by Illustrator.
[Update Update] I am going to follow up when I get time, in a new post, presenting all these variations I am getting (just in blue). I can take Color Slurp RGB numbers and lay them out according to file types (e.g., PNG, EPS, AI, GIF, etc). The colors change once again on YouTube, Vimeo, and Instagram, but that's a different matter.
Edit--> Preferences--> General--> click on Always Create Smart Objects When Placing. Or open it in Illustrator, copy and paste into Photoshop and it will give you the option to do raster, smart object or path (I think those are the options - from memory on this one). Photoshop is for making raster images. Everything will be pixels in the end.
