May 6, 2018. 1,844. 2,263. Maine. Apr 4, 2020. #2. Other than a couple 80%, all my AR pattern rifles are Aero Precision. I beat the shit out of them, they are tools, a tool gets used. If you dont mind a couple bumps or scuffs, I would say my Aero sets have taken the abuse very well.
137. Sep 16, 2022. #11. I've used the Aero M4E1 for service rifle and it's a great upper receiver but handguards like the Spiker don't fit the receiver extension really tight. For a practical match gun, I love the flat bottom forearm. A Seekins upper and handguard fit like a glove. Their uppers and lowers lock up like a vault.
I've built multiple Aero's X15 and M4E1's with various calibers, barrel lengths, configurations, etc. One M5 (AR10). They're great rifles - Aero thinks of ways to make the assembly easier. I do recommend finding a dealer with blemished parts. Sometimes they're not even noticeable - the logo is milled .1mm off - something silly like that.
Jul 10, 2018. #6. If it's a "standard" Upper M4E1 (not enhanced) then shims as needed. The "M4E1 Enhanced" has female threads on the upper and a large flared receiver that barrel extension slides into. No shims required for that upper because the handguard mountain directly to the upper with 8 Torx screws. The standard upper looks like every ...
Jul 25, 2018. 246. 46. Nov 9, 2021. #1. UPS just delivered my Aero Precision M4E1 complete upper 223 Wylde 18" rifle length fluted SS barrel. I have the matching lower which I installed a LaRue MBT 2S trigger and Battle Arms bad-ass 60 degree ambi safety. The Aero is very light and very responsive. My wife will also be shooting this AR15 and ...
- Ergo Superlite: round profile similar to the Aero with a smaller ID, more comfortable for off hand shooting, leaves a gap between the handguard and receiver, seems a little less rigid than the Aero but still good. I use Superlative Arms and Wojteck AGBs, which are smaller than most, requiring less space.

Jan 3, 2023. #12. BCP said: Now that you mention it I had a m5e1 barrel nut come loose and it was torqued to the moon. As far as I could tell there was a fundamental problem with the dimensions of the parts and the screws/screw holes. If you are building an upper I would suggest KAC URX, PRI carbon fiber or the Larue upper that has the attached ...
The lower has been completely disassembled. The retainer pin is stuck in the hole. It has no up/ down play whatsoever. Hose it down with acetone, dry it, JB weld a piece of welding rod or drill bit to it and pull it out. If that doesn't work, 16 hits with the largest ball peen hammer you can find. XLR308.
Aug 15, 2018. 15. 6. Dec 19, 2021. #1. Getting parts together for a 6.5sst upper build and wondering if there is any measurable difference between the M5 and M5E1 as far as strength/rigidity and/or isolating barrel from handguard flex. Here’s how I got here. My usual routine is get an M5 upper and send it to mike at Dtech for truing.
