Most games are over 20GB big, and you're downloading 12GB. Sounds about right. It's 11.6 GB on my pc. Hi, so I am trying to reinstall lol, but on the “downloading | game “, it shows 12000MB. I know nothing of PC, so just curious, is this normal?
I commented the steps to do it if you want to try. basically you go into the replays folder and rename an old replay with the name of the one you want to watch and try to run it. it will run the old replay, but after deleting the one you renamed and downloading the one you want to watch again it should work.

If it doesn't work, close the league installer. Go to finder, and search "Riot Client" and drag it into "Applications". Making sure that League/League installer is closed, click on Riot Client to open it. The new Riot Client should then open, and then from then on, press League of Legends, and install. Ive been having this problem for a long-time now, I've tried all of what you can find online: DNS change, WindowsDefender/ AntiVirus real-time protection off, High Priority to LoL Services, Letting the app through the firewall, League Repair Wizard, etc. None of these have worked, I understand too that the game might be actually downloading but ...
To do this create a shortcut for LeagueClient.exe then rename the target in the shortcut menu to C:\Riot Games\Riot Client\RiotClientServices.exe" --launch-product=league_of_legends --launch-patchline=live --disable-patching --disable-self-update. This will force the game to open regardless of what riot client thinks
