UPDATE: 5/13/20 Finally got the Charge 2 to sync. Had to use the computer dongle and charging cable. Put the unit on the USB cable and pressed the button (~4 secs) to reset the unit which makes the device visible. Ran the FitBit Connect software for a NEW initial setup of the device! Software saw the device and synced.
I've had my Charge 3 for 3 weeks. And the screen on the Fitbit went black. I did place it on the charger and then held the side button down for 10 seconds. The smiley face appeared. I then removed the Fitbit from my account and then re-added it to my account. The 4 digit code appeared and I was able to re-add it without losing my data.
