Valley Christian Schools offers a college preparatory education to students ranging from preschool through twelfth grade. VCS is located 35 miles (56 km) southeast of San Francisco, in the Dublin hills, and resides on a 55-acre (220,000 m 2) campus overlooking the Tri-Valley.
The City of San Francisco set aside $2 million in 1930 to build a high school to serve the Richmond District, its seventh public high school and most expensive school at that time. The three-story academic building was designed by Timothy L. Pflueger and inspired by Washington's home in Virginia, Mount Vernon. [2]
The school relocated in January 1913 to an entire block on Hayes Street between Ashbury and Masonic. Lowell remained there for 50 years as the city's college preparatory high school. In 1952, the school sought a new location near Lake Merced and moved there (its present address) in 1962.
