What is the best format for a full 10-digit U.S. phone number in terms of readability, accessibility, and overall ease-of-use? 31 Currently, on my website, users are required to input their phone number in a very specific format (555-555-5555). If you forget the dashes it breaks. I'm really struggling with a phone input field for a form similar to an emergency contact form. International numbers are unlikely but possible inputs. Due to timelines and system limitations, we can't provide a list of countries with their country codes. However, we can provide two country options, "Canada/USA" and "Other".
Users have to provide their phone number. A user can select their country / country code via a drop list, and enter their phone number in a text field. My question is how to best indicate the format I want the user to enter for the number - area code respectively without the (0).
At one step there, we ask users to input their telephone number. Right now users have to click on the flag and choose their country's flag through the dropdown. This is quite tedious.
