Me and mrkgnao are discussing the possibilities of starting an English paperback store in Gothenburg, but we're having trouble coming up with a proper name. We want a name that tells the customer what it is we sell, but we don't want anything as simple as "The Bookstore". We've come up with three suggestions so far: Ye Olde Bookshoppe Readers ...

  6. Large book chains vs. small indep.stores-which do you prefer?

The best bookstore I have found near me (Birmingham, AL) is Books & Company, which I seem to remember is owned by Books-a-Million. I don't see why I should suffer not being able to find the books I want just so a sub-par shop can stay in business. However, give me a bookstore run by people who share my tastes, and I would be all over it.

I've been thinking about opening a bookshop recently. Not right now, but someday when I have a lot of money, and a lot more books. If you could open your very own bookstore, what would you call it, and which books would you have in it? I for one would ban romance books from my store. I...

Seven types of bookstore customers. Amusing and, based on my experiences as a Browser, largely accurate article. The Seven Types condensed: Seekers: want a book — a specific book: only this book will do. Idiots: can only remember 1 detail, and often not a salient detail — not enough to find...

What would replace it would be some sort of bookstore arrangement-books divided by genre and alphabetized by author's name. This trend started with a library in Arizona that dumped Dewey. There has been some interesting internecine fighting among librarians as to whether or not Dewey should be dropped. The new arrangement is disparagingly ...

Mar 3, 2009. #1. With bad economic news all around us, I knew it would just be a matter of time before a plethora of books would be churned out telling us how to weather the storm while we are all standing outside on the window ledge. And yes, some books say you can prosper from this time. The Great Depression Ahead.

A young man from backwoods Kentucky walks into the office of a New York publishing house and plops down several frayed and bulging boxes which contain the manuscript of his first novel, Alms For Oblivion. After some wrangling, the book is accepted and thus begins the meteoric rise and tumultuous career of Arthur "Youngblood" Hawke.
