Coke County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 3,285. [1] [2] Its county seat is Robert Lee. [3] The county was founded in 1889 and is named for Richard Coke, the 15th governor of Texas and later a U.S. senator.

Biography. Smith was born in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, on September 10, 1792. He served in the War of 1812, the Creek Indian Wars, and served as a lieutenant under Andrew Jackson in the Battle of New Orleans. From 1819 until 1835, he fought in the Tennessee militia alongside Sam Houston, where he reached the rank of Colonel.
