The compressor pumps a fixed volumetric capacity and depending on the refrigerant that equates to a different btu output. Since the same volume pumped of 407c versus 410A is 35% less BTU the 410A condenser coils will be 35% oversized and therefore 35% more efficient so the head pressure will be slightly closer to ambient than a normally sized ...
Not a dry charge he said he reclaimed the 410a and ran a vac on it, then installed 407c into the unit. I asked a lot of questions because I have never heard of such. The unit is a complete brand new unit 80% up flow,60,000 btu, 13 seer, 2.5 ton all matching goodman equipment. Reply. 05-14-2013, 12:38 PM #7.
Post Likes. I mixed refrigerants. R22 and 407C. And ran the system for a day. I put R22 in a 407c condensing unit. It was to replace some loss, and wasn't a large percentage, but maybe 10%. It ran for nearly 24 hours before I discovered the mistake. It cooled well enough. There was no excessive current draw.

The contractor just replaced a brand new Lennox Condenser Unit (model:LCS13DC), the manual clearly says, designed for use with HCFC-22 refrigerant only, but I noticed the contractor refilled 407C instead, I asked the contractor about this, he told me this was a new replacement of R-22, he has been doing this way for a long time.
Basically, If you use R407C for MT or LT you will get very high discharge gas temperatures and R407A for A/C you would lose capacity. I’ve used 407C on medium temp. I haven’t had any capacity loss or discharge temp issues. I’d use 407A on low temp.
Product Description. A blend of R-32, R-125, and R-134a that has very similar properties to R-22 in air conditioning equipment. R-407C has the closest property match to R-22 in an air conditioning retrofit project compared to other blends on the market. It can also be used in medium temp R-22 refrigeration systems.
407C is 52% 134a, add around 5lb of R-32 and r-125 and bingo! 134a turns into 407C but the unit is overcharged by 30. So, keep that extra 30 lbs. in a recovery bottle and use it when it leaks again. Reply. 01-19-2017, 04:49 PM #6.
R-407C head pressure tends to trend about 11% higher than R-22 head pressure. R-407C suction pressure tends to trend about 11-12% lower than R-22 suction pressure. How does that compare to your experience? PHM. ----------. Originally Posted by dbusman. We work on big bus systems, (roughly 6-7 tons) -- seems like R407C has somewhat more head ...

I think on a long vertical rise, I would do the whole detailed conversion, simply so there's no reason to question the oil if theres an issue down the road. Close-coupled systems , the velocity is so fast theres not a problem with oil return.
