Apple ended major update support for these models of iPad in September 2019 - although they continue to receive occasional “point” security updates, the most recent being released January 2023.

iPad mini2 and mini3 are limited to iOS 12.4.7. For these models of iPad, Apple ended major update support in September 2019. Since then, there have only been a few “point” security updates. iPad mini4 and the current mini5 both support iPadOS 13.5.1, this being the current release. I have an iPad running iOS 9.3.5. I want to upgrade to the latest version of iOS 14. When I go to Settings > General > Software Update, I get the msg "Checking for Update." Then I get another msg that says "iOS 9.3.5 Your software is up to date." But I do not want/care to update my current iOS 9.3.5 software because it is woefully out of date.
