S2 felt like they were wrapping up the show. Even though they added the little stinger of the MF still in the UD, it didn't feel like much of a threat, as the Gate was closed. S3 left lots to theorise about and discuss. While people will blame the dislike for s2 on ep7, I don't agree.
I would classify Stranger Things as a bit lighter and easier to digest than dark. Dark on the other hand heavily rewards active viewers. Major pieces of the puzzle may be hidden in subtle places. There will be times when new information drastically alteres the context of previous scenes and actions.

Yes Benny's murder was bad but the point of killing him was to get rid of witnesses to the girl plus if social services showed up the next day there would be another case of a missing child. Eventually word was already reaching Hopper about El. Same for me, yeah I guess I felt bad for Barb, but not as much as others.
My SO told me to try watching Stranger Things because I love Sci Fi. I tried.. I finished S1-S4 in four days. It’s really great. The story, concept (IMO, no loopholes so far), acting, the bond of all the cast in the show and the 80s thingy. Give it a try. It’s really good. It only gets better.
