Costco, Discount Tire, and others also get unique model numbers from manufacturers to get around the whole price-matching offer, so they aren't competing with each other that way. I do get the idea of having more places to repair/service your tires, but Costco usually wins the price battle, whenever I check elsewhere.
Some people think that is a feature since they won't get charged for an alignment. I use expensive off-road tires so I want to make sure my alignment is good. Basically Costco isn't a tire shop. I'm the sole holdout here for Big O tires but I like a particular shop. I just don't think you should buy tires at Costco.
But yes after getting new tires it’s a good idea to get the alignment done. Went to costco tires, and was told to get alignment before installing the new tires otherwise it will avoid the five year warranties.
