Word order typology studies it from a cross-linguistic perspective, and examines how languages employ different orders. Correlations between orders found in different syntactic sub-domains are also of interest.
History. In the Middle Ages, the word "order" meant a spiritual–knightly organization, each member of which had a distinctive sign – a cross of a certain shape and color, cut out of fabric and sewn onto knightly clothing. Over time, a new sign appeared – a star.
