Hello whiteoaks and welcome, If you are not using any Comcast static IP on a Comcast Gateway (CG) including SMCD3G, NetGear3000DCR, or DPC3939B then depress the little black reset button on the rear of the CG for minimum 15 seconds, then your CG will be set back to default setup paramters including your 10.1.10.1 direct interconnect using Enet cable to any LanPoprt 1-4 using cusadmin/highspeed.
Then you should be able to direct wired ethernet connect to any LanPorts 1-4, bring up a browser, enter in 10.1.10.1, then user cusadmin/highspeed. If you do use Comcast Static IPs, then call 800-391-3000, use technical high speed internet option, then ask technical agent to reset your login credentials.
Needing to access the Comcast Modem 10.1.10.1 in order to set new ip addresses in firewall acceptance. I cannot access 10.1.10.1 i get the spin on Chrome and ERR_CONNECTION_RESET thats all nothing. I tried using WIFI, the router that is plugged into the modem and hardwire directly into the modem, no access to 10.1.10.1 from any point.
Got the new modem installed and it worked great for a couple days, it is now blocking access to 10.1.10.1 again. Tried rebooting the modem and still get no response, could this be from a firmware update that the new modem downloaded over the weekend, it is very odd that it stops working but I can still ping 10.1.10.1.
However, once I reach the screen to do this, (10.1.10.1 -> Login -> Gateway -> Connection -> LAN Settings) I can override only the three first part of the IP, Meaning that I can only put 192.168.1.1. The last number is greid out!!! Can you please advise? I need it to be 192.168.1.254 because of other network configuration I have in place. P.S :
browsing to 10.1.10.1 = no login prompt? i'd love a chance to use the default credentials but i don't even get a user/pass prompt. Web browsing works fine so, the box is functional...

If so, you should definitely be able to login to 10.0.0.1 , username=admin, password=password (if default). If you are using another Business Class Gateway, then try same interconnect using 10.1.10.1, username=cusadmin, password=highspeed.
