Hi All, just wanted to say that I am six months sober to the day today. It's a milestone and I am somewhat proud of myself. I had written out this ridiculously long update but decided not to post it. Here's the TDLR version: Have lost 20 lbs from 185 lbs. I'm 5'9" and 53M. Much harder to do when you are older! Started working out after a 6 year ...

Today I am 6 months sober. I feel (and look) like a completely different person. Six months and one day ago I felt like there was no hope and that I would never be able to be sober. Since then, I’ve lost 22 pounds, I have far less anxiety and my depression is basically gone. My face isn’t puffy and bloated anymore and looking back on ...

I study for at least 1 hour per day and have maybe missed 3 days of learning in the past 6 months, so close to 200 hours. I also listen to a lot French music and that has certainly helped with picking up and learning new vocabulary. I hope to reach B1 level in another 6 months.

I’m coming up on 6 months myself. This is the hard part. It’s almost like I’m forcing myself to miss the beginning couple months of sobriety because I don’t want to fall into missing alcohol. I’m bored and sad and we’re only just heading into winter. I understand wanting to just get rid of the emotional scale entirely.

I havent had a drink in six months as of today. After two months my friends noticed I was doing better. Four months in, everyone started to notice I was doing better. A week ago I was promoted to a higher rank (I am in the military). Eventually the pennies are turning into dollars. I feel isolated however.
