Its location is just south of Wenonah Park (on the east side of the river), and Veteran's Park (on the west side).
Harry J. Defoe and sons. The Defoe Shipbuilding Company was a small ship builder established in 1905 in Bay City, Michigan, United States. It ceased to operate in 1976 after failing to renew its contracts with the United States Navy. The site of the former company is now being developed for business and housing on the bank of the Saginaw River .
The Midland Street Commercial District is four blocks long, and contains fifty structures, forty-nine of which are two- and three- story commercial buildings, and forty-four of which contribute to the historic character of the neighborhood. Structures date from the 1860s to 1929, and styles include Queen Anne, Romanesque Revival, and Art Deco.
