Located in Transylvania County near the tripoint where North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia meet, Gorges State Park sports plunging waterfalls, rugged river gorges, and sheer rock precipices. Backcountry-style recreation is a hallmark of the park, from backpacking to horseback riding.
The campground at Gorges State Park will have five camper cabins, 14 campsites, and 16 tent campsites, along with a modern bathhouse. Gorges State Park will host its first annual Mountain Monarch Festival on September 24, 2022.

Thanks to funds from the Connect N.C. Bond Project, Gorges State Park will open a family campground on Saturday, October 29, according to the N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation. The 13-acre campground features five camper cabins, 14 campsites and 16 tent campsites.
