So that's what i did I contacted epic games' support and got a reply about 8 days after i sent the first email, and i know about whats going on right now in the world, but C'mon 8 days that's quite a long time.
I was having this same problem but i figured out that you go to epic games and login with your epic account and not your xbox or google etc account this ay it shouldn't come up with the "create account page" then go to activate fortnite in a new browser and you put in your code and your account should link to your console hope this helps :)
