Plus the shells fall out of the full moon pretty easily when it's in your pocket, so you have 3 or 4 shells instead of the full 5. I shoot mine often with out the moon clips. Best have a pencil or something to push out the one or two that won't fall out. I shoot mostly Winchester white box and they seem to fall out OK.

Talking with Taurus I understand that the 905 9mm revolver (NOT the Instant Backup version) is based on the full-size Taurus model 85 .38 special frame. According to Taurus, the model 85 is rated for +P ammunition. However, I have been told by gun shop owners, gunsmiths, friends, etc. that +P ammunition should not be fired from the model 85 on ...
Alfa-proj also manufactures steel frame 9mm luger revolvers with 3,4,5 and 6 inch barrels. (They made a few 2" barrel revolvers for some sport shooters and it has a nice nickname "parabulldog"). There are two versions of cylinder. Short cylinder and classic style cylinder.
If the 905 9mm is truly based on the model 85 .38 special frame then I am concerned about the revolvers durability. This thinking is founded on the general bullistics of the 9mm vs the .38. The standard 9mm seems to be equal or higher than even most of the .38 special +P ammunition.
Junior member. Join Date: April 21, 2011. Location: Illinois. Posts: 4,555. I have been tempted to buy the Taurus 905 but I keep hearing that Charter Arms is coming out with their CARR in 9mm soon, and I've heard Chiappa is going to have a conversion kit for the Rhino for 9x19 (not 9mm IMI). So I've been holding off.
Between the 905 in 9mm and the 85 in .38 sp, which would you choose? The 9mm is thought to be a more capable self defense round, but I think both will get the job done with the right ammo/shot placement. 9mm would also be good cause it would eat of the same plate as my XD-9. The only concern I have is the little clips they use.
Length, height, width. Just got back from the range and put another 100 or so rounds thru the 905IB. At distance of 10'-15' slow fire, real slow, DAO, grouped about 2", at 20' the group opened up to about 3". IMHO this gun is better at point shooting rather than target shooting. It is a very short barrel revolver.
Fires 9mm ammo which is cheap and abundant. Revolver Reliabillity. Lifetime warranty. small and easily concealable. Cons: Cannot Fire Steel Case Ammo unless you have a screw driver with you. Terrible accuracy. Keyholes the target. I'll just get to the point.
