Target shooting on gamelands is a stupid idea anyway. It's a designated hunting area. You don't know who is beyond hidden / hunting. Only inconsiderate idiots go to a gameland designated for hunting to target shoot. 1283 posts · Joined 2012. #2 · Feb 8, 2015. There's not really any such thing as vacant "public land" here in NC. All the BLM lands are out west. There are a few areas of state gamelands (see here). Some of them specifically prohibit target shooting, which, by logical reasoning, means that target shooting is allowed on the rest of them.
If you are in the city limits of any city or town, that's almost certainly a non-starter. Virtually every city or municipality has a blanket prohibition on discharge of firearms within the city limits, with exceptions carved out for lawful self-defense, dispatching of wounded animals, established shooting ranges with proper permits, etc.
Efird's is a 200 acre shooting facility established in 1975 which can accomodate Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun enthousiests. When turning onto the gravel road from Saint Martin's memories of my Grandparents home were running through my mind. The rustic, antique, quiet feeling was very present as I pulled into the range.
9 posts · Joined 2022. #7 · Sep 27, 2022. Great range. 200 yard rifle range and maybe 30 yard pistol range. They also have an archery range I haven't tried. Can't beat it for the 10 bucks it costs to go. Just expect a crowd the last couple weeks leading up to deer season.
