Return to sender Attempted—not known Unable to forward I’ve sent this person mail at this address many times over three years and I texted them and they confirmed they still live there. The name/address is correct and clearly typed. I’m not sure why this has been sent back or what I need to change for it to go through next time.
Reply. uspscca. •. If it says "or current resident" anywhere on a mail item, then mail carriers are obligated to deliver it because it is YOUR mail, regardless if whether a former resident's name is on it or not. Put a business card sized name tag in/on the mailbox. Put your last name and "FWD: FormerResidentLastName".

Don't write anything on it, please. If you can stick a post-it or something that says can we try to send this again, I've verified the recipient name and address are correct. Yeah you're right it was probably a bonehead mistake on someone's part or else an overzealous substitute. Reply. ElectricSequoia.
I think we all hope for friends this good. I'd put a question mark on it and deliver it! I've delivered a magazine subscription several times where the name was Jack Meoff. Moreover, as someone mentioned in the comments, the “attempted—not known” label means “Delivery attempted, addressee not known at place of address”. So the problem wasn’t with the address, it was with the addressee. However, the recipient told me they receive mail there all the time. I’m not sure what the problem is.
