For the convenience of users, DCI also created an online HTML [6] version of DCI Specification, Version 1.4.1. Due to the HTML conversion process, the footnotes in the DCSS now appear as endnotes. The PDF version contains pagination and page numbers whereas the HTML version does not. DCI Specification Version 1.4.2, [7] [8] dated June 15, 2022 ...
A Digital Cinema Package (DCP) is a collection of digital files used to store and convey digital cinema (DC) audio, image, and data streams. The term was popularized by Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC in its original recommendation [1] for packaging DC contents. However, the industry tends to apply the term to the structure more formally known ...
Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) and Enhanced EDID (E-EDID) are metadata formats for display devices to describe their capabilities to a video source (e.g., graphics card or set-top box). The data format is defined by a standard published by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA).
Media Block. A Media Block or Integrated Media Block (IMB) is a component in a digital cinema projection system. Its purpose is to convert the Digital Cinema Package [ 1] (DCP) content into data that ultimately produces picture and sound in a theater in compliance with DCI anti- piracy encryption requirements.
2.2 IIA: 16 October 2012: Addresses a breach described above, as well as other flaws in Locality Check; Type 1 extended to preventing content from going to v2.1, 2.0 and v1.x as they all have weaknesses; 2.2 for HDMI: 13 February 2013 This spec is not bound to backward compatibility to v2.0 and v2.1 hence makes it a clean version of v2.2; 2.2 ...
The DCI specification allows several different resolutions for the content inside the container, depending on the desired aspect ratio. The allowed resolutions are defined in SMPTE 428-1: [6]: §3.2.1 [7]: p. 6 4096 × 2160 (full frame, 256∶135 or ≈1.90∶1 aspect ratio) 3996 × 2160 (flat crop, 1.85∶1 aspect ratio)
This format has a resolution of 2048 × 1080 (2.2 megapixels) with an aspect ratio of 256∶135 (1.8 962) or roughly "17∶9". [12] This is the native resolution for DCI-compliant 2K digital projectors – active displays with this resolution are rare. The display aspect ratio is frequently wider than the native one, requiring non-square pixels.
Created by the Digital Cinema Initiative, DCI-P3 is designed for viewing in a fully darkened theater environment. The projection system uses a simple 2.6 gamma curve, the nominal white luminance is 48 cd/m 2 (14ftL), and the white point is based on a projector with a xenon bulb, for a correlated color temperature (CCT) of ~6300 K.
