    Reaction score. 406. Mine looked the same at 85,000 miles. I put my new seal in with a seal driver, with the cover sitting on some wood on my bench. Make sure you install it with the sealing surface perpendicular to the shaft or it won't last. Seems easy.

    I use Rockauto for my maintenance parts/supplies. But I check around for price and quality. If I want OEM parts I go through parts.ford.com and pick a local dealer with the best prices. They have been shipping free from that site lately. Each dealer you choose sets their own prices.

    The nuts are self locking,, the plastic liner keeps the nut from working loose.. You can buy a special strut-nut socket, or make one by cutting the top a socket and welding a nut on it and use a 1/4 socket to hold the strut while torquing the nut. Or,, just use an impact .. I use a cordless impact on mine, run em' down til they're tight then ...
