Reaction score. 406. Mine looked the same at 85,000 miles. I put my new seal in with a seal driver, with the cover sitting on some wood on my bench. Make sure you install it with the sealing surface perpendicular to the shaft or it won't last. Seems easy.

The nuts are self locking,, the plastic liner keeps the nut from working loose.. You can buy a special strut-nut socket, or make one by cutting the top a socket and welding a nut on it and use a 1/4 socket to hold the strut while torquing the nut. Or,, just use an impact .. The BMW E46 LCA shown above uses a 2-piece, 2 durometer poly bushing to combat this. The hole for grease to travel is drilled through the housing and the outer poly bushing. This way grease can travel all the way to the inner pivot point - where the two poly pieces meet. ddd4114 said:
